Mikhail Lobanov is an Executive Board Member of The Alternative GMI Ltd and serves as the CEO of The Alternative Public Tech Opportunities RAIF V.C.I.C. Plc, concurrently undertaking the responsibilities of Head of Portfolio Management.
Mikhail founded The Alternative with the aim of catering to sophisticated investors, offering them access to a diverse array of alternative investments. Possessing extensive experience in operations and regulatory compliance within the financial services industry, he concentrates on investments in the fintech sector and oversees the overall management of the firm.
Before his involvement with The Alternative, Mikhail co-founded Target Global in 2012. Over the past decade, he played a pivotal role in transforming it into one of Europe's largest and most successful venture capital funds. Currently, Target boasts over €3 billion in Assets under Management (AuM) and a portfolio that includes 11 unicorns, such as Revolut, Cazoo, Copper, wefox, Delivery Hero, Rapyd, Flo, and others.
Mr. Lobanov holds a bachelor’s degree from the London School of Economics and is also a recipient of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) Advanced Certificate in Financial Services legal framework.
Vladislav Kovalev is an executive member of the Board of Directors and Deputy CEO of The Alternative GMI Ltd, assuming also the role of Head of Risk Management. Vladislav joined Target Group in 2019. Throughout his career, he played a significant role in the development of a public asset allocation framework and contributed to risk management initiatives, assessing and mitigating risks across diverse asset classes, ranging from alternative lending and private debt funds to real estate and equities. He has extensive technical knowledge in portfolio management, financial and statistical modeling.
Before joining Target Group, Vladislav worked at ATON in the fixed-income trading and asset management departments where he was responsible for research and analytical support in adapting investment strategies, pricing decisions and formulating risk assessment methodologies with an emphasis on stress testing and scenario analysis.
Vladislav holds a double bachelor's degree from the Higher School of Economics and the London School of Economics. He has completed his MSc in the Financial Markets program at EDHEC Business School, with a primary focus on asset management. Additionally, he has successfully passed CFA Level 2.
Athina Georgiou is a Group Leader in Abacus (International Business Advisory Services) with years of experience in assurance & advisory, corporate compliance, management consulting, management/financial reporting and Board level participation. She has started her career with Deloitte Cyprus in Audit and Assurance Services and in 2015 joined Abacus serving a variety of international clients from countries like Russia, Poland, UK, US and China.
Athina holds a BSc degree in Mathematics with Management from Imperial College London and is a qualified chartered accountant under the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
She is a holder of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) Advanced Certificate in Financial Services legal framework and the Advanced Certificate in Fund Administration issued by CLT International in collaboration with the Business School of the University of Manchester, UK.
Savvas Orphanides is a member of the Board of Directors of a number of Alternative Investment Managers and acts as the Risk Manager of a Central Eastern European Private Equity Manager. He maintains his Advanced Competency Certificate for all investment services issued by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission and has more than 25 years of experience in the wider financial services industry, inter alia in the fields of wealth management, risk management and investment advice. Until October 2014, he was the founder and Chief Executive Officer Executive Director of a leading, Cyprus-based investment advisory firm.
He previously served as the Group Chief Executive Officer in a financial services group in Cyprus, where he was amongst the founding members and a major shareholder. He also worked as an Investment Advisor in a global leader in wealth management institution in London, where he delivered inter alia, tailored management services, equity portfolio management and advisory brokerage services. He also has a rounded experience in insurance services and legal advice. Since 1999, he has been serving as a member of the Board of Directors of various private and listed companies and since 2013 he is a founding member and member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Business Angels Network (CyBAN) actively promoting and managing angel investing in Cyprus.
Prior to working in the investment management industry, he acquired an Undergraduate Degree (Bachelor of Laws) at the University of Bristol on a full Commonwealth Scholarship, in the United Kingdom. He subsequently qualified as a licenced advocate from the Cyprus Bar Association. He has also worked in the insurance industry and holds an Associateship Diploma (ACCI) by the Chartered Insurance Institute, where he was awarded the Barnfield Prize. Subsequent to that, he completed his master’s degree in Business Administration at the INSEAD Business School in Fontainebleau of France. He is also SFA licensed advisor and UK broker dealer.
Constantinos Constantinou graduated in 1987 from the London School of Economics and Political Science obtaining a BSc in Economics with First Class Honors. He then worked with KPMG London where he specialized in banking and became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales(ACA). He returned to Cyprus in 1992 and joined Bank of Cyprus specializing in managing companies with financial and management problems. He later became head of the bank’s International Business Unit.
Since then, he set-up the Private Banking Unit and Institutional Clients Unit for a Cyprus listed investment firm and the Cyprus operations of an EU commercial bank. Today, he has his own advisory and fund management business, advising clients in a diversified industry portfolio and is a member in boards of financial and non-financial companies.
